New Suit, A Second Thing, and Some Other Third Thing.

Hello Family,

I hope that you are doing well. This week, there is not a lot to report about, but I will try and say what I can.

So, last Monday, (as I'm sure you're all aware if you read my last email), we went to the biggest mall in 臺中 so that I could find a new suit. Well, after looking for a while, I found a really nice suit. I will attach a picture of it. We spent most of our P-Day at the two malls. (There are two right next to each other.) So, I got to see a couple of really cool places that Elder Chen has told me about, places like Uniqlo, MuJi, and a couple of others. I found a cool place that sells comic book memorabilia, so that was awesome. (Sorry, didn't get pictures of that...) I also saw another place that Elder Chen told me about called Stance Socks. Essentially, they are a company that makes really cool, really comfortable socks. I got a pair, and they are fun. I also got some socks at Uniqlo, which are REALLY good quality for the price. So, we definitely got a workout walking around the mall. (And we are going again today because we have nothing else to do.)

(Insert cool second thing here)

(Insert funny story or super cool experience here.)

Well, that's about it for this week. Apparently, there is supposed to be a typhoon today or something. It is pretty windy and rainy, but nothing near typhoon levels yet. (According to CNN it is Typhoon Dujuan-a pretty strong typhoon)
We are still trying to find new people to teach. Our Investigator 陳弟兄 had to go back to 臺南 for the Moon Festival, so we haven't been able to meet with him this week. And his family is giving him a hard time for wanting to abandon his traditional beliefs, and that's never a good thing. But we are praying that everything will go well. But, all according to the Lord's time.  I know the Lord has been helping me a lot this week. I have had some really cool prayers and a lot of comfort brought to me. I am definitely starting to feel better about this senior companion thing. So obviously, President Blickenstaff was right, it would just take a little time. So, I am definitely keeping on keeping on.
I love you guys, I hope you have an awesome week, and I will talk to you soon! Love ya!

Sincerely,
Elder Chase Joseph Millett

Interviews, Vespa, and "Come On Babies, We're Goin' Shoppin!

Hello Family,

I hope that you have had a good week. We have been doing pretty well. Things are picking up here in DongHai.

Well, this week, we had another round of interviews. It was really neat to be able to talk to President Blickenstaff and share my feelings and questions with him. He really is a wise man, and I know that he has the authority to watch over this mission. And I thank him for the wise words he gave to me. We also got to talk to Sister Blickenstaff and the Assistants. So, it was definitely a day full of learning and spiritual growth.

So, secondly, since I've come to Taiwan, I've discovered that a TON of people ride motor scooters. And I've fallen in love with Vespa Scooters! They are super super cool. They look good and they are actually super well made. So, we found out that we have a Vespa dealership in our area, so we decided to go check it out. We took some pictures and stuff. Out front, we found a vintage Vespa from like the 50's or 60's and I got my picture with it. It was awesome!!! You can buy Vespa scooters in the US. I am seriously thinking about one for college or something.Winking face They aren't too pricey either. (My response to him: Vespa scooter may not be fun to ride in Logan winters brrrrr!") His response: That's why I take the Bus!!!Smiling face with open mouth and tightly-closed eyes

Well, lastly, today for our P-Day, we are going to the largest mall in all of Taichung. We found out that it is just in the area adjacent to ours. I went there while I was on exchanges, and it was super cool. So we are going to go there today because well, I've gotta buy a suit. And we are going to this place that sells cool socks. So yeah. Shopping. Fun Stuff.

Well, that is about it for this week. We are working with a new investigator named Chen Jian You. He is a super humble guy. He just started college and he is looking for direction in his life. So, we are praying for him and we are hoping that things will continue to go smoothly.

Well, that is about it for now. I love you all and I will talk to you next week. Stay awesome. GLHF.

Happy Birthday Elder Chen, College Time, and Who is this Guy?‏

Hello Family,

Wow, we actually have a normal P-Day today! YAY! So, I will try and fill you in on what's been going on recently.

So, yesterday was Elder Chen's birthday! So, today being our first P-Day for a while, I had him make a list of everything he wants to do today and we are going to run around 東海, so that will be pretty fun, considering our interests are very similar! So, happy birthday Elder Chen!!!!

Nextly, it is college time here in 東海! So, we are getting pumped to have new people here. Prepared people! Young people ready to receive the Gospel! So, our little bump in the road is about to pay off. We have been patient. We have prayed. And I feel that college starting is the answer that God is giving us. We are ready to tackle the world now! Let's go find new people to teach!

And Lastly, who is this guy? Well, lately, some people have been asking about my new companion, Elder Chen. I guess I didn't realize that I hadn't told you guys anything about him. So, I figured I could take this part of the email to share with you.

So, Elder Chen is from San Diego, CA (La Jolla), but he has lived in about 10 countries since he was born. His dad is in marketing, and he moves around all the time. His dad is an ABC (ABC means American Born Chinese). His Mom is from GaoXiong. His parents never really used Chinese with him when he was growing up, because they both speak incredible English, and have lived in the States most of their lives. Elder Chen has studied for a semester at BYU Idaho and he wants to probably go into marketing as well. He is super smart!!! Like, CRAZY smart!

As far as his interests go, he is very hipster. But not like the poser kind of hipster, but like, a LEGIT hipster. He loves old things like I do, and he knows how to find some really quality stuff for very cheap. He has made me a list of stuff that I have to get and check out in the future, (things like PF Flyers shoes, really good pencils and pens, some cool backpacks and things like that). We share an interest in cars, (Saab in particular). We can both talk about watches for HOURS. We love comics, video games, and just having fun with life. We both like to forge our own path in life. He is a very spiritual person, and his testimony is huge. He really inspires me, and I am SOOOO thankful for the opportunity I have to serve with him. Love you Elder Chen!

So, that is about it for this week. As far as the work goes, it's about to pick up. We have been doing a lot of less active work recently, and we have about 7 of them lined up with potential for reactivation. We have 0 progressing investigators right now, but I have a feeling that that is about to change very soon. We are meeting with a potential investigator tonight and we hope that he will prepare himself to receive this truth into his life.

Mother, I have a very important request. Elder Chen and I have recently been having a craving for Oatmeal Creme Pies. So, if you could throw in a box of those that would be wonderful. (And Girl Scout Cookies too if it's that time of year. Those are so good!!!)

As far as food goes. We have been trying to find some new places to eat here. We discovered a REALLY good Korean place here. It's a little bit more pricey, but so worth it. This week, I really didn't eat anything disgusting, just bored because we eat at the same few places, so we are trying to find new things and broaden our horizons.

I love all of you! I hope you have a good week! Can't wait to hear back from ya! Stay safe, and GLHF! (Good Luck, Have Fun, for those of you who don't get it.) GG!

Sincerely,
Elder Chase Joseph Millett

Still Alive, Senior Companion, and Taipei Temple‏

Well Family,

I'm still alive. It has been a week and a half since I've emailed because of the weird P-Day thing and I only have an hour today so I'll have to be quick.

Well, the reason I only have an hour today is because I'll have a chance to go to the Taipei Temple on Wednesday! So, we don't have a P-day today. But on Wednesday, we have to go to the DaYa chapel at like 5:30 in the morning or something, and then we have to go up to Taipei. But I am super excited because we are going with the ZhongXing Zone, which includes Elder Moore, and Elder Brady, my old district leader from JiaYi. So, I am really excited about that. The only bad thing is that we will not have had a p-day for like 2-3 weeks, so that is kind of annoying as far as going and buying food and things is concerned, but still ok.

Well, as for the adventures of being senior companion. I will be straight up, it is stressful. I am not used to taking the lead of everything. There are some pressures that come with it. And right now, we have 0 progressing investigators, and we are struggling to find less-actives to bring back to church. So yeah, the last couple weeks have been rough. I am just hoping to finally get into the swing of this Senior Comp thing soon. But I mean, I guess I'm still alive. That's one thing. And my companion is pretty cool, so yeah.

And it sounds like the pepper plants are doing well! I'm excited!

Well, that is about it for this round of emails. I hope that all of you are doing well. Congrats on the Eagle Scout Tyler! That's AWESOME!! I hope that you have a good week and I wish you my best!

Sincerely,
Elder Chase Joseph Millett
